The EnviroScape Program currently
consists of EnviroScape II (nonpoint source pollution), Wetlands, Hazardous
Waste, and Landfill models, a Riparian Kit, and Groundwater Component. It
also includes Instructional Videos and curriculum.
To meet your organization's needs cost effectively, the EnviroScape
Program is truly mix and match--and easily customized. EnviroScape II, Wetlands
and Hazardous Materials models are available as stand-alone deluxe units
(with or without a case) or as add-ons. Deluxe Units include a landscape
map, clear base and all accessories needed for a demonstration. Add-ons include
a landscape map and select accessories that can be used with a deluxe unit's
clear base and general accessories such as houses, cars, trees and spray
bottle.
For instance, if your organization wants to teach others about
nonpoint source pollution and wetlands issues, you can purchase an EnviroScape
II deluxe unit and Wetlands add-on. Everything will fit in one case and the
two scenarios will share accessories and the clear base. However, it you
want to teach about nonpoint source pollution at your local school and wetlands
issues at a town meeting (at the same time) you need to purchase both deluxe
kits for EnviroScape II and Wetlands.
The Groundwater Component and the Riparian Kit can be used
with any of the scenarios -- EnviroScape II, Wetlands, Hazardous Materials
or Landfill.
The Deluxe Heavy-Duty Carrying Case will expand to hold up
to two landscape maps and the groundwater component, along with a deluxe
unit. However, we do not advise shipping it this way. The Deluxe Carrying
Case has wheels for easy transport.

demonstration--except the water! All deluxe units are approximately 25" X
30" X 5" and are easy to use and clean. Also included in each unit is a user's
guide with glossary, which provides easy-to-use guidelines to aid an instructor,

EnviroScape II DELUXE Unit with case

EnviroScape II (the newest version of the original EnviroScape
model) discusses nonpoint source pollution and the steps everyone can take
to help prevent it. It is also good for discussion about overall watershed
concepts. Areas on the landscape map include: construction site, residential,
recreation (golf course), mountains (forested), industry (factory and water
treatment plant), agriculture and transportation. EnviroScape II teaches
the watershed concept in addition to point and nonpoint source pollution.
Two waterways flow into a larger water body, which is representative of a
lake, river, bay, or ocean. The model is packed in a durable carrying case
with wheels, ideal for transporting locally or shipping. The easy-to-use
model (approximately 25" x 30" x 5"), comes complete with a kit containing
everything you need to demonstrate the movement of water through a watershed
and the pollution that runoff may cause: cocoa, and powdered drink mixes,
felt vegetation swatches, clay berms, and props such as miniature vehicles,
trees and cows.

(but the water!) plus extras. This unit which can be shipped or carried,
comes complete with a heavy duty carrying case with wheels, houses, barn,

EnviroScape's Landfill model shows how modern landfill systems
differ from the "dumps" of the past. The model consists of an older style
landfill of the past and a modern landfill cell of today that includes recycling
as an important element. We all make trash -- landfills will always be needed
to accept trash that cannot be recycled or converted. EnviroScape Landfill
is a wonderful tool for helping people of all ages understand how a landfill
works, and how they differ from landfills of the past.

The Landfill Deluxe Unit contains everything you need (but
the water!). This unit, which can be shipped or carried, comes complete with
a heavy duty carrying case, landfill landscape map, clear base, buildings,
and accessories. The modern landfill cell consists of five trays that gradually
decrease in size to allow for a cutaway view of a landfill cell. The trays
represent the aquifer (base or groundwater unit), layers of trash, and collection
systems of modern landfills. Rain is simulated on an active landfill cell
on the model, so the viewer can follow the flow of the rain through the solid
waste. The leachate is collected and then recirculated from the tanks back
through the trash or transported from the tanks to a wastewater treatment
plant (the treatment plant is not actually shown on the model.) Solid waste
is represented with sponges and the leachate collection pumps and wells are
represented with clear tubing and spray pumps. A landfill cover is also provided
to show how rain flows off the impermeable cover or "cap" to stormwater retention
areas.

Groundwater Component

EnviroScape's Groundwater Component provides basic demonstrations
on how groundwater works, how we use groundwater, how we pollute groundwater
and how we can prevent and clean up groundwater contamination. It covers
the basics and is not intended for use as a highly technical
demonstration.

The new and improved Groundwater Component features a durable
plastic liner with a silk- screened depiction of unsaturated/saturated soils,
aquifer and bedrock layers that replaces the need for marbles and foam pieces
used with the original groundwater component. The water channel (where the
layers are silk-screened) is also smaller to reduce the amount of water needed
for demonstration. This component is easier to use and clean than the original
groundwater component -- and it can be used with all EnviroScape

Association's Environmental Resource Guide (ERG) Nonpoint Source Pollution
Prevention series as a great curriculum to use with EnviroScape. The series
explores the impact of land use on the quality of water. Topics include
landfills, fertilizers, pesticides and erosion. Each ERG includes approximately
15 lessons with clearly stated educational objectives, background information,
preparation instructions, hands-on activities and extension activities, which
are designed to be integrated with general science, language arts, math,
social studies and art curricula.

help protect the environment. The activities are also designed to develop
