JT&A HAS BUILT A REPUTATION FOR PUBLICATIONS EXCELLENCE
through favorable referrals. We are known in many areas -- the environmental,
health care, educational and agricultural communities, among others. From
our beginnings as a part-time editing/writing establishment, JT&A has
developed into a full-service typesetting and design production business.
We offer a wide range of graphic capabilities, including designing and
typesetting publications, producing charts and creating illustrations and
logos.
The feature that distinguishes JT&A from other firms purporting to offer
the same publication services is our recognized ability to write for both
the policy-making and citizen audience. We carefully select our writers and
editors, choosing professionals skilled in the art of translating technical
information into readable prose.
JT&A was founded by a journalist/professor and has built a reputation
for producing clear, cogent and correct writing and editing. Nowhere is this
excellence in public communication more evident than in the many annual reports
to Congress JT&A has produced for such clients as the National Council
on Vocational Education, the National Committee for Quality Health Care,
the Council on Environmental Quality, the National Acid Precipitation Assessment
Program and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
We research, write, rewrite and edit documents to be understood by the lay
person and decisionmaker. Making a document attractive to the reader also
has always been one of our highest priorities. We are well known for our
design and artwork: our posters are found throughout the nation, Mexico and
Canada; our brochures for American Wetlands Month and EPA's Nonpoint Source
Program have been distributed by the hundreds of thousands.
JT&A produces a wide variety of conference materials for its clients,
ranging from the basic name badges, tent cards, announcements, programs and
attendee lists to complex briefing books and industry-specific trade
publications. Our designers once built an entire seminar theme from a colorful
Malaysian cloth.

JT&A publishes the proceedings from most of the large conferences we
coordinate. We have edited and produced conference proceedings from corporate
conferences addressing environmental management issues; government-sponsored
conferences on topics such as reducing the risk in paint stripping practices,
the Toxics Release Inventory database, nonpoint and point source issues,
the manufacturing of pulp and paper and watershed issues; and from annual
national conferences of two major health care organizations. We established
a series of proceedings for a major national environmental organization and
coordinated its evolution into a journal.

Manuals & Monographs
JT&A frequently edits and produces monographs for a number of client
organizations, including a series for a health care client. A major manual
that we created for the poultry industry has become almost a bible for waste
management in that arena.

Our brochures and posters feature original art, which we create to meet our
clients' specifications. One of our first brochures focused on the nonpoint
source pollution issue - EPA distributed more than a million copies - and
we subsequently adapted the design to an EPA Report to Congress. For the
Terrene Institute and EPA, JT&A produced another highly successful brochure
for American Wetlands Month. We also created the Audubon's America brochure.
JT&A artists created a series of posters for Terrene and EPA Region 5
that focuses on the nonpoint source management issue. Another successful
series - for a corporate client-announces annual conferences. JT&A regularly
designs and produces brochures for the conferences and meetings it manages.

Clean Lakes Program
Since the 1987 initiation of an annual series, JT&A has continued to
research, write and produce an annual report for U.S. EPA and the Terrene
Institute. In addition, JT&A has produced two major reports on the Clean
Lakes Program for EPA, designed for a citizen/policy-making audience. Both
have been extremely well received.
Nonpoint Source Program
JT&A edited, designed and produced this EPA report to Congress, working
through many drafts on an extremely tight time frame.
States' Water Quality 305(b) Report
JT&A created the artwork and design for this report. This job resulted
specifically from our reputation at EPA for outstanding creative work.
Council for Environmental Quality
JT&A edited, designed and produced four annual reports, receiving
commendations for our work.
National Acid Precipitation Assessment Program
JT&A designed and created NAPAP's first annual report and logo, and produced
the annual report for several years thereafter. We also edited and produced
the interim report on a tight schedule - working the hours necessary to complete
the project on time.
National Council on Vocational Education
JT&A designed and produced a number of special reports and edited the
council's annual reports throughout its existence.

Two major health care organizations
After several years of designing, editing and producing annual and specialty
reports for one organization, our work prompted a sister organization to
contract with us for its annual and special reports.
A corporate environmental group
After designing the first annual report, JT&A continues to produce subsequent

LakeSmarts: A Lake Maintenance Handbook, Terrene Institute
More than eight years ago, JT&A suggested this book to its author and
secured resources for him to begin the project. The book, published by Terrene,
is a major success. JT&A edited and designed the book, including the
cover.
Rural Clean Water Program, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S.
Department of Agriculture
JT&A researched and wrote this book and created the design and illustrations.
A major national health care organization
JT&A edits and designs special books, including an annual index of health
care trends.
Promoting Agricultural Products Abroad and Success Stories, a national
agricultural association
JT&A periodically updates, designs and produces these books from an original

organization's members and the USDA office that oversees the member
organizations' marketing programs.
TQEM: A Primer, a corporate environmental group
JT&A condensed a 225-page draft into a 24-page primer that was distributed
at the 1993 Rio Environmental Summit. This primer, produced within a short
time frame, has been reprinted many times and distributed throughout the
world. JT&A also produced a Spanish translation that has been very popular.
Your ABC Guide to the Environment, JT&A, inc.
To demystify the increasingly complex and enigmatic riddle of today's
environmental language, JT&A compiled and published this handy reference
guide. Your ABC Guide to the Environment, used widely in the governmental
and corporate worlds, spells out more than 2,500 environmental acronyms,
alphabetizations and common terms. Each listing is cross-referenced with
its descriptive term. As an added bonus, the Guide lists chemical elements
and units of measure.
The Book on Congress, Big Eagle Publishing Company
The first how-to book on House and Senate procedures, The Book on Congress
explains the organization and rules of both Houses and how they affect the
course of legislation. Together with five experts who collectively have some
120 years of Capitol Hill experience, JT&A produced this comprehensive,
authoritative source for those who work with and study the U.S. Congress.
Updated for each new congressional session, The Book on Congress is distributed
by the Almanac of American Politics.
